Hardik Gundechya Recognised at B-wbl Awards Ceremony

Cymru Care Training is delighted to announce that one of our learners, Hardik Gundechya, has been named Foundation Apprenticeship Learner of the Year at the B-wbl Awards Ceremony held on 5 June.

This prestigious award recognises apprentices who have demonstrated exceptional commitment, achievement, personal development and impact within their workplace and sector. Hardik's success is a testament to his determination, professionalism and passion for delivering outstanding care.

Hardik began his journey in social care with no previous experience of the sector. Since then, he has achieved remarkable progress, successfully completing his Foundation Apprenticeship in Health and Social Care while rapidly developing into a highly respected member of the team at Torestin Care Home, Haverfordwest.

What makes Hardik's achievement even more inspiring is the determination he has shown in overcoming challenges. Entering a demanding care environment while communicating in English as his fourth language, Hardik embraced every opportunity to learn and develop. He has also learned Welsh to further enhance his ability to communicate with and support residents, demonstrating an exceptional commitment to person-centred care and inclusivity.

Throughout his apprenticeship, Hardik consistently exceeded expectations. His dedication to continuous professional development saw him undertake additional training, including specialist areas such as dementia care and medication management, ensuring his practice remains current and evidence-based. He has demonstrated an outstanding ability to apply learning directly within the workplace, improving outcomes for the individuals he supports.

Hardik's progression has been extraordinary. While still completing his apprenticeship, he advanced into a Senior Care Officer role, taking on increased responsibilities and becoming a trusted leader within the care home. His positive attitude, strong work ethic and solution-focused approach have earned him the respect of colleagues, managers, residents and their families.

Beyond his own achievements, Hardik has become a mentor and role model for others. He actively supports and encourages colleagues, helping new staff develop confidence and promoting the value of apprenticeships as a pathway to career progression. His journey demonstrates how commitment, resilience and a willingness to learn can create opportunities for both personal and professional success.

Hardik's employer describes him as a natural leader who consistently volunteers for additional responsibilities, identifies opportunities for improvement and seeks ways to enhance the quality of care provided. His ability to remain calm under pressure, inspire those around him and maintain a relentless focus on delivering excellent care has made a significant impact across the service.

Everyone at Cymru Care Training is incredibly proud of Hardik and this well-deserved recognition. His journey from newcomer to Senior Care Officer is an inspiring example of what can be achieved through dedication, hard work and a genuine passion for supporting others.

Congratulations, Hardik, on being named Foundation Apprenticeship Learner of the Year 2025. We look forward to seeing your continued success as you progress further within the Health and Social Care sector.
